Converse has gone custom, all the way. Customizing your Chucks are now a main part of what Converse has to offer from their website. It’s pretty comprehensive, well put together and covers all the main bases. While their effort to build a platform shoe is admirable it’s still thin on the expression side (but so are the rest of the players). You can choose from a bunch of primary colors and a few incredible boring patterns.

We think they’re missing out. more though needs to be put into the platform shoe system if it’s going to be something buyers can truly express themselves with. We hope they take it to that next step.

Sneaker companies today are all trying to figure out how to make in the mass customization world. Nikes, doing their Nike ID, Adidas has Adidas Colors and Vans is just kind of doin’ Vans stuff. FYI Vans was the first to do custom sneakers, I got my first pair of custom vans hightops in 1985 or 86. And they had more of a selection then than they do now!

Converse could learn a lot from some of the custom artists out there, the stuff they are doing is just great.

Nice! I’d love to see the exposition…

And I love to customize too.
