
A wave of sullen irony brooding in the UK at the moment, or is it genuine british stiff optimism. My guess is that depends on where you stand socially. Regardless the “keep calm and carry on” graphic has become a huge icon these days.
It does say a lot about the times we are in but the modern answers to it say even more. Matt Jones read a recent article in The Guardian covering the hype of this WWII poster.
The beautiful thing about Matt’s response is that he takes responsibility. It’s a ‘just do it’ kind of approach and a sign of the times as well. Make things, you can do it, we all can. And it’s true, we all can these days. It just takes will. I think this message is such a contrast to the old fashioned and conservative take.
And it’s a bit cheeky too :)
