Timbuks2 Bags have been doing the customization thing now for a long time. Probably one of the first interesting product to both allow for customization and work with other artists/designers to show what the potential is. Now they have a bag builder application that gives you even (easier) more control over the bag of your dreams.
To see some of the stuff designers and artists are doing with the bags check it out here and here. There is a lot of really beautiful stuff. i would love to get my hands on one of the originals but it doesn’t seem they are for sale online.
While we thing the bag builder is a great step for Timbuk2 we would like to see more of the design work done by these artists as part of the builder itself. In that sense Freitag’s F-cut is a little better, while it’s as robust as the bag builder you can be guaranteed that with F-Cut your bad will be completely unique to you because you choose where and what material to use for the bag.
